A better place to learn

West Ridge Middle School

Working alongside the Calgary Board of Education (CBE), Riddell Kurczaba recently delivered this Grade 5 to 9 school, which opened for classes early in 2017. Based on a prototype, RK’s design was modified in key areas, not only to improve the site’s sustainability, but also to advance the design in terms of value engineering. This project, initially designated as a started school, was re-prioritized by the government to be constructed as a full facility-- a task which RK accepted with assurance.

At approximately 80,000 sq. ft., West Ridge School includes features that will help students receive a full, active education, like flex spaces with moveable walls, two gymnasiums, and a well-equipped work-shop, including special spaces for the teaching of subjects like food science, fashion, music, art, and drama.

RK was also responsible for the interiors. Click here to view project.
